PRE-SEASON MATCH REVIEW (vs. York Centurions)

Sunday saw The Sabres travel to York in a pre-season face-off against the York Centurions, providing everyone with a last minute opportunity to experience some vital game time before the first league game of the season against Leeds Beckett (Carnegie) on the 13th of November. Heavy rainfall on the grass pitch was a rare encounter for The Sabres, of whom many struggled with footing throughout the game. The game started with numerous three and outs from both defensive sides as both teams struggled to generate any rhythm on the ground or through the air.

By the end of the first half, York were 6-0 up after a deep pass and impressive speed from the wide receiver beat both corner and safety. Despite numerous injuries on the Offence and difficulty in driving the ball downfield, the second half saw two Sabres touchdowns accompanied by one 2 point conversion. But the Defence experienced trouble of their own, consistently losing outside contain, allowing York to score two rushing touchdowns towards the end of the game making the final score 18-14 to York.
