The Sheffield Sabres (4-4) head north of the border this weekend to face the Glasgow Tigers (8-0) in the opening weekend of the playoffs. The Sabres finished their season strong with victories over Leeds Beckett and Huddersfield, which was enough to see them into the playoffs. The Tigers have a winning streak of eight games, and started the season with six consecutive shutouts before Northumbria scored 12 against them a couple of weeks ago. The Sabres victory at Huddersfield was their first away win of the season and they will need to be on top form away from home again this weekend against an unbeaten Glasgow team who haven’t conceded a point at home all season. Based on the team’s records Glasgow will be seen as favourites for this game. But of the Sabres four defeats, three of them were decided by three points or fewer. This game could be a lot closer than it looks.
